Event themes with no name
More than one client has been stumped for a suitable “event theme” for their next event. And lets face it, some client event just do not suit the traditional event theme formats. Simply put, some clients want to follow the K.I.S.S principle. (You know the one, it’s the one about keeping it simple and so on) and thus the focus for their Christmas party was to be on great food, booze and good times.
A recent client went down this path for the second year running and the event and entertainment team at Instinct rose to the challenge. The event catered for 330 + guests in a cocktail format with a difference.
The event offered guests a combination of canapé and hand held foods as well as a large grazing food station as well as an entirely separate sit down restaurant experience!
This was accompanied with offering guests beer, wine and spirits and cocktails throughout the night.
Corporate Christmas Party Event Planning
The event was located at AERIAL and full use of the venue allowed for two distinct “zones” to be used to full advantage.
Guests arrived on the main event level styled with ferns, greenery and a large central bar with festoon lighting to suit. This was also connected to a large food station later offering a massive grazing station through out the night.
The floor plan allowed for both a central bar, large dance floor and stage for the band, DJ and formalities to boot all on one side of the venue
Corporate Christmas Party | Style instead of theme
Given there was not a clear “theme” to influence styling and entertainment selection; it was decided to focus on an “atmosphere” and “style” as the bonding agents to create an amazing event.
The focus was thus about creating a response in the guests form the environment as well as from the entertainment interacting with them.
Cocktail or sit down? Why not both?
The “other side” of the venue styled with furniture offered guests a sit down “spot restaurant” experience. Guests had the grazing station, and canapé/ “hand held food” on one side and a restaurant on the other.
Comedy hosts dress in 1950s dinner styles operated throughout the event and took bookings for the 5 seatings offered by the restaurant throughout the event. They entertained guests on the “restaurant” side while the magician, Clearview cover band and DJ Emma ensured those in the main room were never to far from a good time.
This was once again a massive success, creating energy and movement as guests jostled for a chance to experience the site down vibes, and move to main dance floor.
The combination of the right entertainment and styling hold the
“no theme “ events together. Styling on this occasion worked with the white marble venue by adding the greenery and colour. A hanging garden was used in the “restaurant “ side, while matching greenery and plants also featured around the main bar area.
Lighting was also used to control atmosphere and vibe.
